Biblical Counseling Institute (BCI) was founded in 1999 upon the philosophy that change is possible through the application of the Word of God, because “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (II Timothy 3:16-17).
BCI’s main approach to counseling is modified “Nouthetic”—a term coined by its originator, Jay Adams to mean "confrontation of sin." The Word of God is the sole reference needed in this type of counseling, although skills in communication and in the ministering of God’s love and compassion are essential. Our experience is that difficulties in overcoming life's adversities usually results from living our lives ways that God never intended. When those wrong ways are discovered and changed, God's blessing of relief and healing almost always follows.
BCI is a ministry of Ahavat Yeshua Messianic Jewish Congregation in cooperation with other Messianic Jewish Congregations and Christian Churches in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.
BCI offers counseling to adolescents and adults, including those who are married, not married, couples planning marriage, and families.
